Celiac disease also called coeliac disease is a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the small intestine. It is triggered by the consumption of gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye. When individuals with celiac disease consume gluten, their immune system responds by damaging the small intestine, which can lead to the malabsorption of essential nutrients and a wide range of symptoms, including digestive problems, fatigue, and skin rashes.

There is currently no cure for celiac disease, and the only effective treatment is a strict gluten-free diet, which involves avoiding all foods and products that contain gluten.
