Quinoa has become increasingly popular in recent years. It is a great alternative to rice as it is a truly versatile and nutritious grain with a bounty of health benefits. Not only is it gluten free, it is also full of fiber and is a great plant-based protein, and has a subtle nutty flavor. We at Nommy absolutely loved quinoa based protein bowls, vegetable bowls and quinoa tacos!
However, just like rice, cooking quinoa can prove to be a bit tricky, and we definitely don't want undercooked, crunchy quinoa or overcooked and mushy quinoa. In this post you'll get our best Nommy kitchen method for perfectly fluffy and light quinoa, every time.
1 cup quinoa
2 cups water
1 Tablespoon butter or olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
Melt butter or olive oil in a sauce pan.
Add quinoa and toast until fragrant. Be careful not to burn.
Add water and bring to a boil. Set stove to lowest heat, cover and cook for 15 minutes.
Fluff with fork and enjoy.
